We did it! – Mercy For Animals

and your support!

You may remember our undercover video from early June, documenting the abuse and torture of animals at Chilliwack Cattle Sales in British Columbia and exposing the glaring deficiencies in BC’s farmed animal protection laws.

But thanks to this investigation and your ensuing outcry, together we won a victory for cows in Canada. Last Wednesday, BC agriculture minister Norm Letnick announced that the province will officially incorporate the National Dairy Code of Practice into the BC Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

And to build on this success a generous Canadian donor has agreed to match up to $180,000 in donations received before Thursday, July 16. This means your gift today will have DOUBLE the impact in helping abused farmed animals in Canada!

Illustrating what your support can accomplish, the new BC rule requires dairy factory farms to adhere to standards for the treatment of Canada’s dairy cows, including:

Protecting against malicious acts of cruelty

Prohibiting unnecessary mutilations—specifically tail docking, a painful procedure whereby pruning shears are used to cut through the skin, nerves, and tailbone

Providing non-slip flooring to protect cows from falling and becoming injured
Supplying adequate bedding to increase comfort

Administering proper veterinary care to sick, injured, and diseased animals

Together, we are making progress to protect these voiceless animals who are abused all too often. But more work remains to be done. Please help us create the next victory by donating today—your gift will be doubled and go twice as far to support our vital work in Canada.

With your support, our investigators can continue to beat back cruelty against farmed animals and inspire compassion.

Your views are important,we want to hear your take as well.
